Reflexology

Reflexology
Relax. Reconnect. Reset.
Reflexology is a gentle, non-invasive complementary therapy that works with specific reflex points on the feet.
The treatment is based on the theory that different areas of the feet correspond with different parts of the body. During a reflexology treatment, I use a range of precise hand and finger techniques over the feet, working with the reflex points and adapting the treatment to you.
Most importantly, reflexology gives you dedicated time to stop, be still and receive supportive touch in a calm environment.
What can I expect from a reflexology treatment?
Your first appointment begins with a consultation so I can understand your general health, wellbeing and anything that may be relevant to your treatment.
You'll then get comfortable on the treatment couch and remove your socks and shoes.
I work systematically over both feet, using different pressures and techniques. Some areas may feel particularly sensitive or tender, while other areas may simply feel deeply relaxing.
You don't need to understand the reflex points or know what's happening for the treatment to be beneficial. Your only job is to get comfortable and allow yourself some time to switch off.
How might I feel during and after reflexology?
Everyone responds differently.
During treatment, you may experience a lovely sense of relaxation and find that your breathing naturally slows. Some people become very quiet and still, while others find their mind wandering or even drift off to sleep.
Afterwards, many people describe feeling relaxed, calm and generally more at ease.
You may also feel tired or particularly peaceful for a while afterwards, so I recommend allowing yourself a little time rather than rushing straight back into a busy schedule.
Your response to treatment is also useful information. I'll always encourage you to tell me how you feel during and after your appointment, as this helps me understand how you respond and tailor future treatments accordingly.
How often should I have reflexology?
There isn't one answer that suits everyone.
Some people choose reflexology as an occasional treatment when they feel they need some time to themselves. Others prefer a course of treatments followed by regular maintenance appointments.
We can discuss what feels appropriate for you rather than following a set formula.
Is reflexology suitable for everyone?
Reflexology is suitable for many people, but there are circumstances where treatment may need to be postponed, adapted or avoided.
This is why I ask about your health and any medication or medical treatment during your consultation. If you have a medical condition or are currently receiving treatment, please let me know before your appointment.
Reflexology is a complementary therapy and should not be used as a replacement for medical diagnosis or treatment.
Pregnancy
If you are pregnant, please let me know when booking.
I do not routinely treat during the early stages of pregnancy. If you are in the first trimester, or have any concerns about your pregnancy, please discuss reflexology with your midwife or other maternity professional first.
Later in pregnancy, reflexology may be appropriate for some people, but this will always depend on your individual circumstances and the information provided during your consultation.
If you are unsure whether reflexology is suitable for you, please get in touch before booking. We can talk it through.
Ready to slow down?
If your feet are asking for a little attention — or perhaps you are — reflexology could be a beautiful place to begin.
You can book reflexology as a treatment in its own right, as part of your holistic 60, 90 or 120 minuite treatments or it can form part of your InSPArational Signature Reset, depending on what you need.
Sometimes you don't need to do anything.
You just need to stop for a while and receive.
